PHP 5.6 mail problem

Post by JWahni » 2015-10-09, 09:33

After upgrading PHP to version 5.6 I get an error:

Failed to connect to ssl://smtp.provider.com:465 [SMTP: Failed to connect socket: fsockopen(): unable to connect to ssl://smtp.provider.com:465 (Unknown error) (code: -1, response: )]
...complete content of the mail with adress, Header, Body showed here...
Module: /tcp/editcalendar.php

Using TeamCal Pro 3.6.015
Till PHP 5.5 it works fine.

Hi JWahni,
I dug a little deeper into this and indeed, since PHP 5.6 "Stream wrappers now verify peer certificates and host names by default when using SSL/TLS".

I found this post here that indicates that you might need to use a specific host name for which the SSL certificate is valid. Are you using a shared hosting service like the user that had posted and fixed it like described?
