Users can't create daynotes?

Users can't create daynotes?

I had not noticed this, but it was just reported to me that normal users (those who are only members of groups, not manager or above) can't create daynotes in their calendars. The "daynote" line does not show up in the matrix of absence types when they click on their wrench to edit their calendar. I confirmed it by creating a test user and looking at his calendar.
Is this a bug or a feature? :P If a feature, can I turn it off so that ordinary users can create daynotes?

Further information.... just realized that users can't even see daynotes -- even their own.
Help! We used daynotes extensively in the older version, especially for when people are only going to be out 1/2 day or something.

Never mind.... my bad. I just found the check box in the Administration acreen. I don't know how I missed that.
